‘The Pencil Is Red’

Welcome back to your Fashion Guide…always a little bit closer to your own catwalk 🙂

This week I am bringing you the beautiful…stylish and eternally alluring pencil skirt!

Pencil skirt

I’ve always loved a high rise, knee length pencil skirt…

It is one of the most practical choices I’ve ever made!

Fresh and stylish options for a pencil skirt:

  • High rise fits better every body shape and it will bring out your beautiful curves
  • Always knee length
  • Wear it with a dress shirt if you want a formal or semi-formal look
  • A blouse will be perfect for a casual or evening outfit
  • Print is one of the stars this year, so floral or multiple colour can be a great choice
  • For a late summer gaze, wear it with simple/plain colour top (sleeveless or not)

Pencil black and white Red pencil

As much as I love black I always come back to my first love…beautiful red!

The pencil skirt is an all year round piece in your wardrobe…a balanced colour combination will build you an outfit for every occasion.

If you choose the classic road…put it together with neutral colours, autumn shades.

For the best style and look, pair it up with heels…and as we are at the beginning of the cold season…a perfect heeled ankle boot will create the perfect look!

Would love to know your pencil style?!

‘When Aztec met Tribal’

Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.
Oscar de la Renta

Summer Fashion 2015!

This week I’ll be introducing a new trend that is taking over our summer wardrobe…the aztec and tribal print!

Definition of aztec clothing:

Clothing for the Ancient Aztecs offered a unique take on fashion with their colourful style sense. Clothing was an expression of many things for the Aztecs, their way of living, social class, gender, their role in society, age and even religion were reflected in their clothing.

Fashion takes an exotic turn and explodes in amazing colours and prints…

Throughout the Spring of 2015 we’ve witnessed the parade of bright colours, loads of prints…and the Summer of 2015 will be a combination of the two and the rise of the shirt-dress.

I’ll be honest and say…my wardrobe is colourful but it has just a few aztec prints, which I didn’t wear in a while:)

Writing this article, today, makes me want to find that dress or that skirt and take it for a walk under the beautiful sun!

If you’re wondering how you can spot a tribal print, here are some tips:

  • Strong graphic prints
  • Warm and earthy tones
  • Safari look
  • Combination of brown, red, orange, sometimes black and white

How to wear aztec – inspired tribal prints?

That is a good question, because no matter how you build your outfit, you shouldn’t forget that the print will set the look…you will build your look around the print and the colours.

  1. Keep it Simple – tribal motifs look really good on their own, especially when we talk about a dress.
  2. Wear print with print – I know it sounds crazy, but it does work; if it’s not your style always pair it up with a plain neutral colour.
  3. Create the loved Safari look and add a leather belt or even boots
  4. Always accessorize – these prints are everywhere like on bags, scarves, jewellery – so find the right combination and wear them

I am actually very excited thinking about this infusion of prints and colours, which can possibly spice up our wardrobe considerably:)

What do you think?

Would you wear it or you’re already wearing it?

‘Block it…with denim’

“Fashions fade, style is eternal.” Yves Saint-Laurent

Today’s post

What can you do with denim and the block heel?

Hello Fashion Lovers:)

I was thinking about practicality…can you be smart about fashion? Can you have one piece of clothing that shapes your whole wardrobe?

Well…let’s see!

I am in love with denim…I’ll be honest and admit that I gave it a go because this year it’s everywhere!

Guess what…I will probably keep denim as one of my favourite styles of all times:)

This week’s fashion post it’s about picking out one or two items from your wardrobe and create endless outfits!

I am sure you all are familiar with outfit building…it’s a terminology used most of the time in fashion retail.

Did you ever thought about how we notice things we like…how we decide to buy that top that we saw in the window display…? It’s all comes down to…outfit building!

2015-02 14_Fotor-1

We look at fashion differently if it’s put into context…would you notice that green bag on its own, or it’s more appealing because it’s part of an outfit?

The trend brings us a fabric, a style, a cut…we decide how we use that in our advantage:)

For this post my lead pieces are…THE DENIM JACKET…and…THE BLOCK HEEL!

2015-06-02 14_Fotor-1

Pick one or two key items from your wardrobe and start outfit building …you will soon realise that you become more smart about what to buy next…that you don’t actually need so many things to look good or even different every day!

2015-014_Fotor-1

Basic tips:

  • Wear what you love but don’t be afraid to try new things
  • I know fashion it’s complicated and not always to our own personal taste…that’s why, re-invent yourself
  • Know your body shape and your limitation…just because it’s in fashion, doesn’t mean you have to wear it
  • Don’t over do it…always keep it simple
  • If you feel good in it…you look good in it too
  • Think outside the box…you might just create the next trend:)

2015-06-0 14_Fotor-1

I like to have a few things that I always mix and match with the rest of my wardrobe:)

Think of a jacket you love…yesterday you’ve thought you can only wear it as part of a casual look…but today, you’ve put it next to a dress…and it actually looks quit amazing:)

When it comes down to fashion you need to be selfish…think what looks good on you and not the rest of the world…be smart and practical when you shop…no point in having too many things that you never wear!

In a nutshell….pick the right pieces and wear them more!

2015-06-02 14.34.07-1

Be creative…use your wardrobe to look good!

Use your favourite items in different styles…look casual and glamorous with the same piece!

Always feel good being you!

‘Flower Power’

Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.” Coco Chanel

If you had any doubts until now…here it goes…I LOVE FASHION:)

I like to think that most of us love to look and feel good…but I also know that sometimes we like to say that we don’t care about fashion or trend…what’s in or what’s last year’s piece!

…and even if we don’t follow the catwalk, big brands or well-known fashion designers, that does not mean that our wardrobe it’s not a slight echo of this year’s spring/summer collection.

Fashion is beauty…but it is also personality…an imitation of our DNA, if you want….

No matter how much we would like to deny…today, tomorrow…near or far future…we are going to realise that we are not so far from being fashionable. You might say that there is nothing in your wardrobe that is trendy…I would say…’look again’!

Fashion is not always trying to keep up with new collections, styles, cuts and fabrics…fashion is what you love wearing, because what you love today…many more will adore tomorrow!

I don’t love everything that each season’s trend brings…but everything I wear becomes a new style…a new line…because I decide what makes me feel good, confident and fabulous:)))

For that reason only, this week I bring to you…the flower power!

IMG-20150526-WA0000_Fotor-1

If you didn’t notice yet…this spring is full of flowers…and I don’t just mean, in the garden:)

Left and right, everywhere you look, from vests to dresses and jackets to trousers…everything is covered in flowers!

IMG-20150526-WA0004_Fotor-1

I’ve never been a big fan of flower print…and I do not believe I will ever become one:)

What I do like is…simplicity…a subtle touch of what might have been a flower impression!

I like to keep it simple but always with a touch of a personal style.

IMG-20150526-WA0007_Fotor-1

If you page through a fashion magazine…catch a catwalk show while flipping through the TV Channels or just fancy knowing what else is out there…don’t think too much about it, try out new things, adapt them to your own style and you will see that in a blink of an eye you will enjoy what you’re wearing more…and appreciate old pieces that you’ve thought you’ll never wear again!

Fashion is what you make it to be…what you see around you is just a gentle push to take your imagination on a beautiful journey of discovery. Don’t forget…you are the artist creating your next masterpiece…so, make it unique because there is only one of YOU!

The choice is always yours…

‘The view from the (w) edge’

” A girl’s best friends…shoes, shoes and shoes “

Did you ever counted how many shoes you have?

I’ve been planning that for a while…I am sure it’s not going to happen for one single reason…I know I don’t have enough:))))))!

In every fashion post I have the same advice when it comes down to choose your wardrobe…

Fashion has no purpose if it’s not a true expression of you!

Always feel good being you !

This weeks fashion post it’s very close to my heart, it brings together three things I simply adore: Red – Wedges –  Shoes.

red high wedge

The view from above:)

The spring/summer of 2015 finds us totally in love with wedges. This year we have a colourful view on fashion and footwear it’s not very behind.

We pack up the black and grey, remove the dust from the box that says “Summer” and line up a brand new collection…might that be sparkly sandals, flip-flops or beautiful elegant wedges.

red wedge blue 2

Personally I find wedges having the most comfortable heel…plus you can always dress it up or dress it down!

Most of us look at wedges and see it as a piece from the holiday wardrobe or just a pair of sandals you would wear casually. You might be right…but let’s improvise a bit:)

Look at a pair of completely closed up wedges…suddenly they become an option for a more formal outfit!

There are multiple colours available to play with…if you’re lucky and you can get away with wearing other than black and white, grey and cream as workwear…a bit of colour can be your next best friend.

Heels always make me feel so much more confident and let’s be honest, we all look better wearing them…wedges can be a more comfortable alternative for a more elegant look but at the same time more practical.

red wedge blu

As you probably might know…my favourite colour is red:)

Red is not always the highlight of the catwalk but I always try to integrated within my other favourite oldies and newbies! From shoes to small accessories, never forget about what you really love the most, might that be a colour, a print or a comfort piece…always make it part of your own trend:)

Paging through some fashion magazines I am surprised how very little I can find practicality in outfit building… it’s an absolute given that fashion is made to look good but at the same time it has a purpose…

We tend to forget that the purpose of a trend/ fashion can be decided by the ones who wear it!

So be bold and decisive…choose to be stylish without the beauty discomfort!

Choose the shoes that love your feet…

Love the wedge…don’t live on the edge!
