Luscious Chocolate…

This week, I’ve chosen to share the many shades of chocolate…

Between milk chocolate, sweet and chilli, white and dark…cacao is one of the most loved ingredients when it comes to delicious desserts… and lipsticks 🙂

Dark burgundy, hazel…chestnut or coffee…dark chocolate and rich burnt caramel…they are all luscious.

Red Portrait

There is no doubt that if you follow my blog, you know what is my favourite colour and also that I love to play with the way I display it 🙂

For that reason, this post is somehow closer to my soul…

This week, let’s take a cardinal journey and paint a red portrait…

I have tried and tested many shades of red…to my surprise, there are some that look better than others…and I only mean this when it comes to lipstick 🙂

Between the well-known brands like, Avon, Maybelline, Rimmel, Revlon, Max Factor…I found many that do the job, but not all would be The One.

You have probably noticed by now that my short chronicles are not always brand reviews…I like to play a bit with different products, find the hidden art that they could be, when placed in a contradictory scene.

Taste of Plum

Second chapter of the Sweet Lips Chronicles…it’s all about the taste.

I remember a time when bright colours were just for summer time…to be worn and displayed on holidays…far away from our day-to-day habitat!

Even now…how often you find yourself being bolder and more adventurous amongst strangers?

In an ideal world, we should be ourselves in our most comfortable surroundings, which on paper should be our home, our family, our friends and colleagues…but for some unknown reason, most of us experienced the odd moment when you feel like truly being yourself anywhere else but where you should…

This year, I’ve spent my holiday a little bit further from home and as any tourist in the world I have set my mind up to try new things, meet new people … taste interesting cuisines and make memories for a life time.

I never really thought about changing my make up bag or be more daring with colours…but as any unplanned and unforeseeable thing, I have returned with a new taste between my dessert choices 🙂

The taste of plum…or as we all know it…sweet purple lips!

img_3743-1

I have moved my research ground beyond Maybelline New York and Rimmel London…

Urban Decay… here I am!

I have found one beautiful and not to mention tasty colour that I couldn’t resist… Seismic Sheer Shimmer (top picture).

But I haven’t stopped there…

I was enjoying this new-found confidence too much 🙂

From just an innocent bite of plum, I’ve dived into a whole basket of tempting choices and I had to have them all 🙂

Some love to collect stamps…some just do not bother…

Me on the other hand…I fell in love with sweet colour lipstick and I never want to go back!

Life is too short to spend it wondering about ‘what if’ or ‘should I’ …

Just be fearless and give it a go…might that be a bold colour lipstick or blind dating 🙂

Be the person you wish to be…the very best version of YOU!

Now…go ahead, find the most eye-catching colour and make it your very own!

…and never forget to make it delicious 🙂

Coffee Lipstick

It seems most of my mornings have the same ritual…

Alarm shock…dream of a dream…coffee hit…lipstick flavour…road trip 🙂

But there is one of these so-called rituals that deserves a little more attention and love … the beautiful and mystical rouge.

I’ve always believed that magic happens when a woman puts on lipstick…from a young age we play with make-up, loving the feel of mum’s powder on our cheeks, the taste of her  red lipstick and the scent of her favourite perfume.

I haven’t been a huge fan of any lipstick for a long time…always thought of myself as more of a lip gloss girl…just liked the light and natural feel of a neutral colour.

img_3715-1

But I must admit…there is no similar sentiment to the one you have when you break out of the bubble of neutral colours!

For the next few weeks I will try to share with you my recent adventures in the wonderful world of extreme shades and how my confidence completely changed when it comes to lipstick 🙂

First post of the Sweet Lips Chronicles is all about the coffee…

…and if you are a tea lover …keep reading as these colours can still be your best fit!

When it comes to coffee, I am all about the taste and the creamy milk…there is nothing more comforting than the warm hug of a freshly made morning drink.

I don’t know about you but this is all I need to keep me going…

I believe that is no coincidence the make-up industry chose to name their lipstick colours after tasty drinks, delicious desserts and attractive lines that make us feel more confident and every now and then invincible.

When it comes to rouge, the colours of coffee work with pretty much everything.

Forget about the notion that dark brown or extreme pink don’t work for you because the colour of your eyes, the shape of your lips or some other excuse that you’ve thought of or you’ve read in a magazine.

When I choose the colour of my lipstick, I think about a few things:

  • Hair style – it might sound silly but it does make a difference; for example the stronger and bolder colours look better when your hair is up in a bun or ponytail
  • Makeup – especially your eyes; always try to match the colour of your lips with the shades of your eyeshadow…the golden rule is to choose which one you want to take out for a walk…your killer look or your delicious lips…never both; a bold lipstick will shine with a neutral eye makeup
  • Clothing – a strong red lips will look amazing with a red top or for a more subtle look with a beautiful red heels

I have definitely tried a few coffee shades, but in the end I couldn’t choose between two brands…

And the winners are… Maybelline New York and Rimmel London!

I would love to hear what is your most loved coffee shade lipstick…share the best one you’ve ever used 🙂

‘Discover your glow’

2015-06-08 09.28.19-1

Hello my fashion lovers:)

I have a question for you…how would your world look without colour?

It wouldn’t be the same, would it?

As much as we love black and white pictures, outfits and art…colour gives us a completely different perspective!

2015-06-08 09.27.43-1

Today’s fashion post it’s about colour and glow…that ‘When Harry met Sally’ moment, when it’s not just the colour of your wardrobe that counts!

What about your make-up?

It’s always about the right shade…of your lipstick, eyeliner and even hair colour:)

When talking about make-up there is no silly question that you could ask but sometimes we can make wrong choices…of colour, how to mix and match and even what product to use!

It’s all about research…a bit of experimenting and taking the right advice.

2015-06-08 09.36.15-1         2015-06-08 09.40.38-1

Basic tips:

  • It’s one or the other – bring out your eyes or your lips
  • Avoid the clown effect – colours which are too strong do not suit everyone
  • Your first priority is your skin – use the right products for you ( not what everyone else is using)
  • Match it top to toe – know your colour chart
  • Less is always more – that is a reality, not just a saying:)
  • Try it before you buy it
  • Know the difference between night and day – believe me, they are not the same:)))

2015-06-08 09.49.07-1  2015-06-08 09.41.46-1

Sharing good practice:

  • The best eyeliner I have ever had…Bourjois Eyeliner Stylo
  • A new discovery…Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara🙂
  • Your eye colour and your eyeshadow are best friends!
  •  Moisturise…a healthy skin is always the best look
  • Be colour coordinated – your wardrobe should match your make up
  • A natural look doesn’t mean no make-up

The eyeliner, the mascara, the lipstick, the nail polish…use them to enhance your best features!

Always look like you were born with it….because you were:)

Love who you are,

Julia

‘What makes a man sexy?’

“Guys don’t need a lot of choices, they need the right choice.” Sid Mashburn

20150215_150430-1

I will be honest…I love a man with a bow tie, I find it really sexy:)

For me accessories are everything, you need only one piece and everything else can be built around it!

But I don’t think men are affected by fashion as much as women…

What makes a man sexy it’s more about attitude and personality than what he wears!

Yes, we like with our eyes but what makes us stay is definitely not the look:)…or…

2015-02-15 14.46.16

Does a suit looks better than a pair of jeans?

It all comes down to how you accessories…and I am not talking about sunglasses or expensive watches:)

Men accessorize with allure…confidence and humour!

We all know it and still keep asking the same questions…what do women like?

We love what’s simple…what’s looking good because it feels good…what’s making us smile…and what gives you, men, the courage to risk it all for us:)

A little secret…women don’t dress up for men, we dress up because we feel good being us!

2015-02-08 16.31.24

It’s all about one single piece:)

I build a look around one item…a nail polish…a lipstick…a pair of heels or an eyeshadow!

Sometimes it’s just the colour, it’s the idea that decides the style.

That one piece of fashion it’s always an extension of you, even if you don’t realise, what you wear as a whole

it’s just the other side of the coin!

Enjoy a week in style!
