‘Juice Diary’ – The Conclusion

‘The only time you should ever look back, is to see how far you’ve come.’

Juice Diary – The Finale

Most used word right now…’Wiser’!

Some of you might remember that a few months ago I’ve started a challenge based on a 28 day juice diet…if you don’t, I really don’t blame you as I have abandoned ship a little bit and took a break from blogging:)

Anyway…I do believe I owe you…my beautiful reader…an ending to my Juice Diary journey!

So here it goes…

I’ve always loved a healthy lifestyle…eating well, sleeping enough, working as much…smiling and loving life even more…but as we all know, everyone has their little secret corner of so-called ‘not so healthy’ choices.

…and you know what?

It is ok…because life is too short to miss out on those little but delicious misdeeds that make us somehow happier, even for just a blink of an eye:)

What is not acceptable…is turning those little slip-ups in brand new lifestyle choices!

To be honest, it’s very easy to trade your carrot sticks for golden crispy fries.

Would you say, you never done it?

It might happen every now and then but what you do not want to do is give up carrots all together and fill up your snack drawer with bags of crisps and sugary treats:)

I believe that following a juice plan was somehow an attempt to escape a dangerous road made out of chocolate and sprinkled with powdered sugar!

My Juice Journey was a very interesting one…

It started out as an experiment but it ended up to be a lesson for a lifetime.

I did not manage to live just on juice for 28 days…and you might say that I’ve failed, but I do not feel defeated in any shape or form:)

I’ve completed the Super Juice Me plan but with a personalised twist…because you always should stay true to yourself!

I’ve survived 14 glorious days purely just on juice and it was amazing and painful at the same time. My plan was always to make it throughout the 28 days but I really didn’t know how…

After 2 weeks of juicing my body couldn’t pull through just with juiced carrots and apples; but my eagerness of succeeding was too strong…so there was only one way out…get customising.

I thought long and hard on how can I keep having the juices but also get back into the kitchen and cook…because honestly, I think that is what I’ve missed the most…the smell of fresh herbs, the taste of beautiful ingredients put together to make something flavorful.

After two weeks of Super Juicing I’ve fallen in love with these drinks…there is nothing tastier than juiced pineapple with beetroot, banana, apples and a handful of spinach…

I’ve never thought I would ever say this…but the juice works in mysterious ways:)

Don’t get me wrong…there were some weird and questionable ones…from which my taste buds will not recover but 90% of the recipes are just something you do not want to forget.

So, I’ve come up with a plan…keep the best of both worlds…beautiful fresh juices and luscious but healthy cooked meals that will make me happier each day.

My journey towards the last 14 days was something to remember…

I’ve kept the morning and evening juices from the plan and had a light and delicious cooked lunch during the day…the best laid out plan!

I’ve mastered self-control by eating less but so much better…discovered some amazing new recipes (which I will share with you all in the upcoming weeks), made a friend for life, my Juicer:) and discovered the secret to a healthier ‘me’… less is always more!

As much as you think you will lose weight by eating less or living for 28 days on juice…these are just solutions for a second and not more.

If you want to feel better, be healthier…it’s all about moderation.

I’ve never wanted to give up chocolate cake…and I never will…but I’ve learned that with the correct fitness exercises, healthy home cooking and better choices, I never have to…

It’s just about self-discipline…what to have, when and how much!

I’ve never believed in diet plans…in starving yourself to feel or look better…because the reality is that they never truly work unless you make a real change to your entire lifestyle.

Quick, short or long and never-ending diets will only deliver a temporary result…we all know that but for some reason some of us still decide to go for it.

Some learn immediately and some don’t…sometimes later than never is better…because once you’ve realised that you do not have to give up what you love, you just have to have less of it…you own the secret for a healthier and happier you:)

That was my lesson from a simple Juice Plan…and even if I’ve stopped living just on juice:) I never stopped juicing:)

Always be healthier and happier!

‘Juice Diary’ – Day 12

‘The struggle you’re in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow’

Juice Diary – Day 12

Most used word today…’Weekend anxiety’ 🙂

Since I’ve started this Juice fest, I’ve never been so worried about the weekend…

You might have the ‘Friday feeling’…I have the ‘Weekend freak-out’…

The weeks are passing by quickly, but the moment I get closer to the only time I could slip up or have to go food shopping again…I feel like I am loosing my mind!

Don’t get me wrong…the past two weeks were just an awakening of how much I can achieve just by being focused and being more aware of how food can affect my life…but 28 days on pure juice it starting to sound more crazy than on my first day!

I am almost at the end of week 2 and I can’t believe I’ve been living on juiced ginger, spinach, pineapples, carrots, lemon….countless apples and other vegetables I’ve never thought about before.

If anything, I am proud of myself but even more of my ability to continue …even though sometimes I feel like I cannot look at my Juicer anymore, with a smile on my face 🙂

‘Dear Friday,

I’ve used to dream about you all week…now, not so much :)’

What is my plan?

No idea…

I might just jog my way through the weekend and hope that I will still be best friends with the bag of beetroot that is smiling back at me 🙂

Here we go again…write the shopping list for the next week.

Will it be just veggie and fruity?

I guess, we’ll have to wait and see!

Day 12 down…16 to go!

‘Juice Diary’ – Day 11

‘Wake up with determination…go to bed with satisfaction’

Juice Diary – Day 11

Thought of the day…’Get that cardio going or just go to sleep’ 🙂

I think I’ve found a new thing I love better than the bags of spinach in my fridge…a good old session of cardio!

Exercising somehow keeps my mind focused…I am thinking less about food and more about how will my cooking change once I’ll finish this crazy juice experiment I’ve started.

Today I’ve discovered one of the best juices that I’ve ever had…this will definitely be my future sweet choice 🙂

There is nothing more refreshing than the taste of fresh berries and the acidity of apples mixed with a bit of iron…The Anti-Oxidant King!

If I’ve learned anything so far…is that this experiment has nothing to do with diet…this is the route to change…a new life style…discovery of new delicious sugary treats, but without any sugar…self-control and incredible discipline.

What a surprise!

…and I just thought I will trial a new trend on the Healthy Living catwalk…

If you ever decide to try anything similar, you will gain so much more than less weight on the digital scale screen 🙂

I’ll see you soon…my jogging trainers are looking lonely!

‘Juice Diary’ – Day 10

‘It doesn’t get easier…you just get stronger’

Juice Diary – Day 10

Most used word today…STRONG!

Welcome to Day 10…

I am having a great week so far…exercising more, enjoying the odd ingredients in my juices and thinking of the future!

A few days ago all my thoughts were focused on how hungry I’ve felt and how much I miss my food…today, I think about how my eating habits could change after this Super Juice Me plan!

Do you remember the beautiful summer mornings that we dream of throughout the cold and dark winter?

Well…it feels like that today…sunny, warm and bright…:) but not just as a sweet dream, more like a very close tangible reality.

When is the last time a juice made out of pear, apple, parsnip, avocado, kale, lime and spinach made you happy?

I guess I am somehow surprised by it as well…

I wouldn’t say that my days are becoming easier, but I think I am becoming stronger…learning how to deal with fake hunger and planning real and healthy changes to my future eating habits.

I’ve always believed change is inevitable…and to be honest I don’t think I have much of a choice here…more I go into this Juice plan, more I feel like I am following a complete detox formula that will fully alter my nutrition.

…and I don’t plan on fighting it…

This change will be a good one!

‘Juice Diary’ – Day 9

‘The best is yet to come’

Juice Diary – Day 9

Most used word today…CONFIDENCE!

I woke up feeling great…rested and ready to face another week of juicing my brains out 🙂

Just kidding…

As much as I am feeling a bit too juiced up…everything tastes amazing!

All these beautiful veggies, apples…herbs…I mean when is the last time you’ve used basil leaves to spice up your drink?

It is very interesting how as a child I never used to eat spinach and now all I can see in my fridge is bags and bags of greens.

I miss tasting my cooking…and I am not thinking at all about snacking…I miss the look and the smell of a super salad with mozzarella, baby leaves, cherry tomatoes and lemon dressing.

I sound like an addict…I feel like one!

This week I’ve decided that I will try my best to incorporate exercising into my daily routine…I am very conscious about the fact that exercising 1/2 h in the morning and 1/2 h in evening isn’t achievable…I have a full-time job and a life as well!

…a bit of cardio will not kill me and I always feel great after it 🙂

Juicing is becoming a very natural part of my day…I would like to say that 28 is achievable but I am not sure yet.

I have days when I feel 100% that I want and I can do this until the end and some other days when I just feel like I cannot drink anything anymore…but I guess this is normal.

We all react differently to change…most of us oppose it immediately and want to hide in our own bubble; but there is only so much we can achieve on our own.

You should never be surprised when the grass looks greener on the other side…it might be a different seed or just better light 🙂

…I never looked at change as a threat…I never liked it either but I’ve learned to accept it…and once you’re part of the change you also realise that there is so much more out there than in here!

I think that’s how I look at everything new in my life… a chance to be better and do more.

‘Juice Diary’- Day 8

‘At first they will ask why you’re doing it; later they’ll ask how you did it’

Juice Diary – Day 8

Start of week 2…

Can’t believe I’ve made through the weekend:)

I’ve stepped on the scale this morning…lost 2 kg (4 lb)!

I think that is amazing…looking back that I’ve only exercised in the weekend and not every day as the Juice Diet advises.

I feel very optimistic about this experiment…still feeling hungry but I think this is because I love my food…the good and healthy food…the food that makes you happy once you’ve had it…the food that makes you smile while you cooking it!

This is a long-term love affaire that even Jason Vale’s Super Juice Me plan will not be able to make me give up!

What I do think it’s changing is my self control…my mentality towards what is healthy and what is just an unnecessary craving.

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy I’ve lost weight but I am more proud of the fact that I feel a new me is being born…

I never thought I will make it past the third day…but I guess is the desire to succeed and the fear of failure that pushes us every time we stand against a tall wall that seems impossible to climb.

With this not so small experiment every day is a challenge conquered and a mastery of self-discipline…it’s not just juicing until you’re super green from all the spinach and kale:)

Who ever thought about juicing broccoli stem, asparagus and parsnip…I never did!

I make broccoli soup and roasted parsnip and asparagus…which may I say tastes heavenly with the right spices!

But, we leave in a world that is changing with a blink of an eye…and we all adapt to the new ways of life…different ways of thinking…and even at this light speed of life we somehow turn back to simpler ways of eating healthy.

I guess everything is like a circle…as much as we constantly move ahead, it’s inevitable to get back, where it all started!

Day 8 down…20 to go!
