‘The simple things in life’

I love to take something ordinary and make it really special.” Ina Garten

Do you have a memory of the most tasty dish you’ve ever had?

I thought I did…until today:)

We all look for that unforgettable taste in complicated recipes…fancy restaurants…unknown ingredients.

More complex it looks, more we think it will be better than anything we ever had before…

Why is that?

We tend to treat most of the things in our life in the same manner…as it gets more tangled, as the puzzle has more pieces, we have the impression it might worth more.

So many times we look away from the most simple ingredients just because we’ve used them so many times…they are familiar so they lack the excitement… or do they?

Today I’ve put together the most basic ingredients for a salad…I won’t go into detail about the ingredients (unless you want me to) because that is not the point of this post…the result was – the most tasty turkey avocado salad I have ever had:)

…take a look today at the most simple things around you and soon you’ll realise they worth more than you’ve thought!

Complicated is born because we think the elementary is not enough…easy becomes puzzling through our attempt in finding something special, when the exceptional is actually hiding between the ordinary.

Julia red world

For many years I’ve written poetry…I’ve only shared one poem with the world and that is because I’ve had to enter a competition…it was one of my assignments in school. I gave up writing for many years…I really don’t know why, I could find the same excuse as we all do and say ‘I didn’t have time’, but I believe I’ve lost the trust in what I could do if I would start again.

You know that feeling when no matter what you do, something is still missing?

That’s how I’ve felt for many years, until I’ve picked up a pen and a blank piece of paper…and everything made sense again. Blogging it’s my way of connecting and sharing what I love about writing…

So many people think that being a writer means stories, fiction, novels, thick books with hundreds of pages…

I think being a writer is expressing what you love with carefully chosen words…or just simply putting your heart and soul on a white sheet with no regrets…

I blog or better say, write about what I am in love with…fashion, photography, food, movies…and every now and then I let my imagination free and join the world of fiction.

I don’t have many passions, but I have a terrible adoration for the colour red…can’t really explain it…it’s just there, everywhere around me! My eyes have a sudden sparkle when I look at something red…it draws me, talks to me, enchants me in the most mysterious ways:)

If I try to find an explanation behind my love and inspiration for writing…I can’t find one!

I am inspired by everything in my life…sometimes I just look at a photo and I feel how the words travel within my mind and find a place where they all make sense. I’ve always enjoyed writing, it’s just who I am.

Blogging made me more confident in myself and in what I want to express through my words, but at the same time it gave me the amazing opportunity to connect with so many wonderful people who share the same passion for writing as I do. I love paging through blogs with some inspirational and powerful stories…I am in love with photography, so I always try to connect with blogs which are more visually themed. I am happy to been lucky enough to know bloggers who have the same excitement for fashion, food and movies as I do.

When I don’t blog or read different posts from my fellow bloggers, I like to read…My favourite book ever read has to be The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I say that…but I love each and every book he ever wrote…he is my pure inspiration when talking about writing.

I’ve discovered Paulo Coelho a few years after I’ve started writing and I always felt that I’ve shared something more than the love for magic and the unknown…his words seem to be my words…the thoughts he expresses in his books, sometimes are my thoughts…

I’ve always been a huge fan of quotes, I’ve used them in my writing and in my blogging…I think a quote is sometimes a slight peek into what’s coming as you scroll down the page.

One of my favourite quotes and which I truly believe to be true is:

“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Paulo Coelho
It’s so unbelievable but at the same time so simple…everything around us is connected and even if we do not see the silver string, each and every thing is linked to something else and every action has a reaction…so the world around us is always conspiring in our favour even when we fail to put our trust in it.

Writing is one way of trying to understand the world…and sometimes by discovering the unknown you have a chance to take a better look at yourself and uncover your own mystery. Writing for me is sometimes an escape …not from reality but more an escape into the deep and hidden miracles that make us who we are.

People see different things in different ways…writing is expressing those perspectives and finding a common ground where we connect. Simple things, like looking at the blue sky…some we’ll see a bright day, others will be grateful for the sun and its warmth…when I look up at the blue sky, I see life…endless line of mystery and hope, I see our Universe connected to far more than the Sun and the Moon…

A clear blue sky brings me happiness as a smile of a stranger brings me joy.

Happiness is such an unknown territory because it means so many different things to each of us…

Happiness it’s a feeling that comes from within…it’s a decision we make…we have the power to decide if we want to be happy or we want to find that thing or that someone who can make us happy.

Happiness is so personal and there are times when it takes just a touch to bring it to life…but sometimes I am afraid to let myself be entirely happy, because I don’t want to lose that feeling or the reason behind it…

One thing I can always be sure of…is that I never miss the chance to be happy, I love life as it is and I am grateful for every second I have to feel pure happiness.

…and there it is…a piece of me on paper:)

It’s my privilege again to nominate other bloggers for this award! Here are some inspirational blogs:)

Here are the question I would love for you to answer:

1. Why do you blog?

2. What are the first five words that describe you?

3. What is that you always wanted but never got?

4. Did you ever danced in the rain? Would you?

5. How is your perfect pizza look like?

6. What was the last picture you took?

7. What is your motto in life?

8. What is the best book you ever read?

9. What is the simplest thing that makes you smile?

Congratulations to you all and I hope you will accept this award!

Liebster Saga, Episode Two…The End!

…to be continued:)

Take a minute…

2015-02-08 14.49.35

For the past few weeks it’s seems like my life is becoming more stressful…my days seem to have less hours than before…I am smiling but my thoughts are more and more obvious…I am becoming more selfish and defensive…and I do not have a straight forward explanation for any of it.

I feel that I need to re-organise what is happening around me…I know it sounds silly and I can’t control everything but today is the day I will push the PAUSE button and take a step back…look at the bigger picture and maybe shuffle things around.

Do you feel sometimes that you need a change?

I’ve never liked change…but I feel the need for it!

There are moments in a day when I feel I need to stop and take a deep breath, close my eyes and imagine a peaceful place…for those few seconds I can pretend that everything around is slowing down and I won’t have to play catch-up once I’ll open my eyes…

We live in a world with super speed development of everything, we try our best to keep up…but every now and then a simple pause might just be the solution for a leap forward.

I am in a point in my life when the Universe is looking down on me and smiles…things are happening, dreams are becoming true, hard work is paying off and I want to be able to enjoy it all and not find it so overwhelming.

The reality is that accomplishments come with more expectations and with every achieved goal, you’ll embark onto a new journey with a new aim and loads more challenges…

…today, I have to find a balance between my present and my near future, a common ground where I can relish my triumph and I can plan for the unexpected:)

I hope to succeed!

Writing 101 – Day Seventeen

Today’s assignment: ‘Your Personality on the Page’ – Today’s Prompt: We all have anxieties, worries, and fears. What are you scared of? Address one of your worst fears. Today’s Twist: Write this post in a style distinct from your own.

‘Between rocks and the fence…afraid of being happy’

They say after darkness comes the light…but what about the darkness that follows the light?

I’ve always been an optimistic but I think it’s easier to encourage the person next to you than yourself!

The beauty of life it’s that, it wasn’t made to be easy…all the rocks and the fences we have to overcome to follow our dreams, makes it all that much sweeter when we get there:)

and all it’s good to concentrate on the challenges we face…working harder to achieve our goals, because this way we feel worthier of the prize, we think we deserve it because we put our heart and soul on the line to get it.

But what happens when you’ve got it?

…when life finally smiled back at you, embraced you for a split of a second and brought you to the one place you fought to be?

It feels strange…it scares you, because now you think that there is a possibility of losing what you’ve worked so hard to accomplish.

We are taught that life it’s about sacrifice, it’s about compromise…that life it’s full of pain but always followed by endless joy…but is it endless?

We are so used to being in a constant battle, that sometimes we forget how we should be when it’s peace…when our dreams come true and we can put the sword down and be happy.

Do we know how to be happy…or are we afraid that the moment we allow ourselves to feel happiness, it can all be taken away from us?

Honestly, I don’t know…

Sometimes I think I am afraid to let myself be happy…I smile but I still hold the sword in one hand…ready for any battle I might have to face…

I believe we enjoy the obstacles…we feel alive when we constantly have to conquer and as we bury ourselves in endless crusades, we believe that life should be that way…but it’s not!

Allow yourself to be happy, celebrate your victory and look at the clear blue sky without wondering where the clouds are:)…I know I will try…

Note from the author:

Live your life without constantly wondering what will be your next step…don’t be afraid to smile if you’re happy…don’t think about the rain when you feel the warmth of the sunshine and forget about the dark when it’s light!
