‘Camera Lucida’ – Out of Place

Welcome to week #7 of Camera Lucida Photo Challenge

Out of Place
Out of Place

This week’s theme: Out of Place

I took this picture recently on a day out…lovely day, a few sunny moments, overall a great day for my photo collection, that is growing with the speed of light 🙂

I only looked at it later on and thought that, as much as the colours are amazing…it’s slightly out of place!

This week you have the opportunity to be as spontaneous as you like…find that object which doesn’t belong, it can even be a boat on a hill :)…can it be an ingredient you shouldn’t have put in your cake mixture, maybe it’s a two coloured leaf found deep in the forest…maybe it’s snow in the middle of August or a snapshot of Sun and the Moon, who according to legends, should never meet…

Let your creativity run free and capture the unusual that might be hiding within the ordinary 🙂

What will be your out of place?

How to join us?

Follow your host and share each week your own vision of the theme.

Create a new post with the title CAMERA LUCIDA followed by the theme name.

The content of the post is completely down to you, share just the photo or be even more creative and tell us the story behind the scene, make it your own.

‘Savvy and Fashionable’

Hello Fashion Lovers!

This week my catwalk is all about intelligent print…

You might ask…really? What is that all about?

Here is the short tale of the red glasses Giraffe named Savvy 🙂

I was looking to buy some very simple t-shirts for the gym…and as always I found something completely opposite, well truth to be told, I did buy a couple of t-shirts but they will never see the four walls of a gym! LOL

The Geek Chic Look
The Geek Chic Look

I am not a huge fan of prints but even I couldn’t turn away from that cute face looking back at me from the window display.

I always said it and I always will…fashion should make you feel good

Comfort is not a myth within the fashion society!

Yes…looking good sometimes means going through some form of pain but I have news for you…the right statement print and a pair of denim, never looked better!

Giraffe t-shirt

Accessorize, accessorize and accessorize…do it for look, fashion or necessity…just do it!

Your comfort look can easily turn into a more elegant one with just one swap…skirt for the trousers 🙂

Elegant and savvy look
Elegant and savvy look

If you are someone who lived in jeans…slept in jeans…step out on the green grass and don’t be afraid to try out a skirt!

This year, it’s all about lace, high waist, knee-length and flared…don’t tell me, there is nothing there you could try 🙂

Keep it simple and always be yourself!

All year round from Spring to Summer…and now from Autumn to Winter, there is one accessory you should have in your wardrobe…the famous hat!

Find the one that suits you…be creative and try a colour that you’ve just glanced at from the corner of your eye but never attempted to put it on…believe me, you might surprise yourself with an unplanned purchase 🙂

Hope you’ve enjoyed my shopping trip for this week!

Tell us what’s new in your wardrobe?

‘Discover your glow’

2015-06-08 09.28.19-1

Hello my fashion lovers:)

I have a question for you…how would your world look without colour?

It wouldn’t be the same, would it?

As much as we love black and white pictures, outfits and art…colour gives us a completely different perspective!

2015-06-08 09.27.43-1

Today’s fashion post it’s about colour and glow…that ‘When Harry met Sally’ moment, when it’s not just the colour of your wardrobe that counts!

What about your make-up?

It’s always about the right shade…of your lipstick, eyeliner and even hair colour:)

When talking about make-up there is no silly question that you could ask but sometimes we can make wrong choices…of colour, how to mix and match and even what product to use!

It’s all about research…a bit of experimenting and taking the right advice.

2015-06-08 09.36.15-1         2015-06-08 09.40.38-1

Basic tips:

  • It’s one or the other – bring out your eyes or your lips
  • Avoid the clown effect – colours which are too strong do not suit everyone
  • Your first priority is your skin – use the right products for you ( not what everyone else is using)
  • Match it top to toe – know your colour chart
  • Less is always more – that is a reality, not just a saying:)
  • Try it before you buy it
  • Know the difference between night and day – believe me, they are not the same:)))

2015-06-08 09.49.07-1  2015-06-08 09.41.46-1

Sharing good practice:

  • The best eyeliner I have ever had…Bourjois Eyeliner Stylo
  • A new discovery…Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara🙂
  • Your eye colour and your eyeshadow are best friends!
  •  Moisturise…a healthy skin is always the best look
  • Be colour coordinated – your wardrobe should match your make up
  • A natural look doesn’t mean no make-up

The eyeliner, the mascara, the lipstick, the nail polish…use them to enhance your best features!

Always look like you were born with it….because you were:)

Love who you are,

Julia

‘The view from the (w) edge’

” A girl’s best friends…shoes, shoes and shoes “

Did you ever counted how many shoes you have?

I’ve been planning that for a while…I am sure it’s not going to happen for one single reason…I know I don’t have enough:))))))!

In every fashion post I have the same advice when it comes down to choose your wardrobe…

Fashion has no purpose if it’s not a true expression of you!

Always feel good being you !

This weeks fashion post it’s very close to my heart, it brings together three things I simply adore: Red – Wedges –  Shoes.

red high wedge

The view from above:)

The spring/summer of 2015 finds us totally in love with wedges. This year we have a colourful view on fashion and footwear it’s not very behind.

We pack up the black and grey, remove the dust from the box that says “Summer” and line up a brand new collection…might that be sparkly sandals, flip-flops or beautiful elegant wedges.

red wedge blue 2

Personally I find wedges having the most comfortable heel…plus you can always dress it up or dress it down!

Most of us look at wedges and see it as a piece from the holiday wardrobe or just a pair of sandals you would wear casually. You might be right…but let’s improvise a bit:)

Look at a pair of completely closed up wedges…suddenly they become an option for a more formal outfit!

There are multiple colours available to play with…if you’re lucky and you can get away with wearing other than black and white, grey and cream as workwear…a bit of colour can be your next best friend.

Heels always make me feel so much more confident and let’s be honest, we all look better wearing them…wedges can be a more comfortable alternative for a more elegant look but at the same time more practical.

red wedge blu

As you probably might know…my favourite colour is red:)

Red is not always the highlight of the catwalk but I always try to integrated within my other favourite oldies and newbies! From shoes to small accessories, never forget about what you really love the most, might that be a colour, a print or a comfort piece…always make it part of your own trend:)

Paging through some fashion magazines I am surprised how very little I can find practicality in outfit building… it’s an absolute given that fashion is made to look good but at the same time it has a purpose…

We tend to forget that the purpose of a trend/ fashion can be decided by the ones who wear it!

So be bold and decisive…choose to be stylish without the beauty discomfort!

Choose the shoes that love your feet…

Love the wedge…don’t live on the edge!

‘You are Bijoux!’

Welcome to this week’s fashion edit:)

“If you love fashion, make it your own…tell a story through your wardrobe…YOUR STORY!”

In my recent post I’ve mentioned how I see fashion…as art and an extension of our personality!

But how do we transform fashion in art…how do we know what is the reflection of ourselves?

I’ve done a photo shoot today with accessories...and I’ve realised that the small bits we add to our wardrobe makes a huge difference. Sometimes it’s the front line of our fashion story, that one thing that has our print on it!

For me…anything that is red, reveals a small part of who I am.

I am not saying that I would always wear something red…but when I don’t, I make sure that I have something that exhibits a side of me!

What does colour tell about who we are, did you ever think what does your favourite colour reveal about yourself?

2015-05-05 20.18.21

Turquoise light

Here is five things that turquoise colour can reflect about you: SPIRITUAL, CONFIDENT, CARING, INFLUENTIAL, CREATIVE.

2015-05-05 20.21.23

Black lace

What does black demonstrate?…STRONG, SOPHISTICATED, MYSTERIOUS, INDEPENDENT, CONVENTIONAL.

2015-05-05 20.38.37

Juicy orange

The meaning of orange: OPTIMISTIC, SPONTANEOUS, WARMTH, SELF-CONFIDENT, SOCIABLE.

2015-05-05 20.40.48

Apple green

What are the key words for a green lover?…PRACTICAL, BALANCE, GENEROUS, INSPIRING, RELIABLE.

2015-05-05 20.47.43

Red passion

I feel very self-conscious now:)…so what is the story that we tell?…ENERGY, PASSION, LOVE, AMBITION, ASSERTIVE.

As I went through writing this post, I believe more that the way we dress shows how we feel…do you agree?!

So…how do you feel today? Confident, generous, assertive, spontaneous or maybe a bit mysterious?

Either way…enjoy who you are because you are amazing!

‘The wonderful world of colours’

” A girl can never have to many bags…or shoes”

This week’s fashion post…a little bit about how to mix and match accessories, colours and styles!

2015-03-19 09.23.00

The famous clutch bag is back:)

I love how just a simple accessory can bring to life an outfit…but what I love the most is the way that having a clutch in my hands, makes me feel:)…so classy!

Do you have something in your wardrobe or between your accessories that makes you feel empowered? Wear it…

2015-03-19 10.07.43-1

It’s all about colour co-ordination:)

2015-03-19 09.59.01

Silver/gold…this year metallic is back!

2015-03-19 09.50.07

Most of the time it’s about colour and finding a match…but sometimes it’s just about letting go and be playful:)

What’s your colour…and your match?!

2015-03-19 13.16.31

Paint the town red…:)
