‘Pick your Red’

Hello Fashion Enthusiasts:)

This week so far was one of my busiest in a while so I am a bit late with my column but…I have something really good up my sleeve:)

Your ‘must have’ red fashion pieces that should be hanging in your wardrobes

Red Style

It might seem that I am being subjective here because RED is my favourite colour but it’s so much more than that. We brought red with us from the Autumn/Winter collection 2014/2015 and it’s still going strong…from the red carpet of Cannes to street style in London.

Red comes as one of the hottest colours from New York Fashion week…but if we really think about it, we don’t wear red because it is in fashion or because celebrities are seen in it!

We wear RED because it’s beautiful…it makes us feel a bit out of our comfort zone if we don’t wear it very often…it makes us feel special when we really need it…adds that touch of colour that gives us confidence!

What is your RED fashion piece?

It might be a pair of red heels you only take out on Christmas, that red necklace you love but never really know when to wear it, a jacket you received as a gift and just can’t make up your mind if it represents you or not…or you are like me and every other item in your wardrobe is red…:)

Either way…if it is a clothing item or an accessory, don’t be afraid to go bold and pick RED!

I love to wear red with black…I think the contrast is so massive but at the same time it creates the perfect colour combination. I would also only recommend it for autumn/winter!

For the summer season a mix and match with white or denim will be the ideal outfit building choice:)

What do you think…can red be your new favourite?

‘Cropped between colours’

The new trouser length…we are wearing it cropped:)

How do you wear it?

Welcome back to your fashion column!

This week we are going to discover the best way to wear cropped trousers:)

SONY DSC

Personally I find shorter length trousers easier to wear!

Looking good and feeling great when wearing trousers should not be a difficult thing, but what we definitely always need to take into consideration is our body shape and whatever the style makes us show off our best features.

Most of us are used to a certain cut…may that be skinny, boot-cut, straight and sometimes is hard to get out of that familiar ground and step into a brand new territory!

This Spring/Summer catwalk goes over the boundaries and cuts everything above the ankle, so get ready to wear it:)

Key styles to wear with cropped trousers:

  • As it gets skinnier to the bottom, it will do wonders for your silhouette
  • One of the best ways to get the most out of this cut is to wear them with heels but at the same time they will go with anything from flats to brogues
  • Mix and match with a tailored jacket or a cropped top

Cropped trousers are the biggest and best style so far for this year’s trend, they come in every design possible from day wear, street, office or parties with one purpose – to replace anything else in your wardrobe:)

What do I love the most is that they also can be found in a variety of fabrics which makes them even more practical…my favourite is jacquard but I would never say no to a monochrome print either:)

Five things you should never forget

  1. Keep it simple but add a bit of flash – a statement t-shirt and a plain colour heel or an every day shirt and flats with some personality:)
  2. Autumn/Winter tip – Pair it up with boots and oversized sweater – you cannot go wrong
  3. Skinnier the better
  4. Try something new – wide leg cropped might be the change you’ve craved for
  5. Get the right cut and it will become your wardrobe favourite

Here are some suggestions for mix and match footwear:)

Enjoy a fashionable week:)

Love,

Julia

‘The Dress Edit’

“Fashion is about something that comes from within you”

Ralph Lauren

The clutch

Hello Fashion Lovers:)

This week I’ve been inspired by one single item…The Red Clutch!

…there is nothing out there that will make a clutch look more amazing than the right dress.

What is your perfect dress…that one piece in your closet that you could not live without?

For me it’s very simple…I can’t choose 🙂

I am in love with dresses…colours…patterns…style and cut…day and night…short or long and my wardrobe is full of the magic of a flower garden that every butterfly dreams about.

This Summer, dresses are definitely the one piece to have…but it’s not always easy to find that ‘Little Perfect Fit’!

Dress collection

There a two major things to consider when buying that perfect dress:

1. THE FLAWLESS SHAPE

I love dresses in general but not everything out there, is the right cut for me or for you…

Know your body shape…are you a pear or an apple…maybe full hourglass or inverted triangle, either way this will define what style you should wear.

This is where we go wrong most of the time…not everything that looks pretty on a hanger will show off our best features and that is why it’s crucial to know yourself before you show off to the world:)

Your body shape will choose the right cut…may that be an A line, a tailored or a straight cut!

Your wardrobe is there to make you feel good and look amazing…never forget that!

The red dress

2. THE COLOUR THAT IS YOURS

Once you know what style is right for you…the next step is the colour that will give the dress its zest:)

What is your colour?

Sometimes what we like it’s what we should wear…but not always!

Did you know that each of us belong to a season and that decides what are the colours that will suit us best?

Your season is determined by skin, hair and eye colour; some personal stylists will only divide the choice between ‘cool’ and ‘warm’ colours but I like more options…so the season chart is my tool to settle the perfect wardrobe:)

The right shape and the perfect colour applies to all of our wardrobe…always have in the back your mind…shape and colour…this way, you will make the right buys every time:)

Splash of pink

…and sometimes you might want to get out of your comfort zone and try another season…nobody will stop you:)

The choice is always yours!

Julia

‘When Aztec met Tribal’

Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.
Oscar de la Renta

Summer Fashion 2015!

This week I’ll be introducing a new trend that is taking over our summer wardrobe…the aztec and tribal print!

Definition of aztec clothing:

Clothing for the Ancient Aztecs offered a unique take on fashion with their colourful style sense. Clothing was an expression of many things for the Aztecs, their way of living, social class, gender, their role in society, age and even religion were reflected in their clothing.

Fashion takes an exotic turn and explodes in amazing colours and prints…

Throughout the Spring of 2015 we’ve witnessed the parade of bright colours, loads of prints…and the Summer of 2015 will be a combination of the two and the rise of the shirt-dress.

I’ll be honest and say…my wardrobe is colourful but it has just a few aztec prints, which I didn’t wear in a while:)

Writing this article, today, makes me want to find that dress or that skirt and take it for a walk under the beautiful sun!

If you’re wondering how you can spot a tribal print, here are some tips:

  • Strong graphic prints
  • Warm and earthy tones
  • Safari look
  • Combination of brown, red, orange, sometimes black and white

How to wear aztec – inspired tribal prints?

That is a good question, because no matter how you build your outfit, you shouldn’t forget that the print will set the look…you will build your look around the print and the colours.

  1. Keep it Simple – tribal motifs look really good on their own, especially when we talk about a dress.
  2. Wear print with print – I know it sounds crazy, but it does work; if it’s not your style always pair it up with a plain neutral colour.
  3. Create the loved Safari look and add a leather belt or even boots
  4. Always accessorize – these prints are everywhere like on bags, scarves, jewellery – so find the right combination and wear them

I am actually very excited thinking about this infusion of prints and colours, which can possibly spice up our wardrobe considerably:)

What do you think?

Would you wear it or you’re already wearing it?

‘Discover your glow’

2015-06-08 09.28.19-1

Hello my fashion lovers:)

I have a question for you…how would your world look without colour?

It wouldn’t be the same, would it?

As much as we love black and white pictures, outfits and art…colour gives us a completely different perspective!

2015-06-08 09.27.43-1

Today’s fashion post it’s about colour and glow…that ‘When Harry met Sally’ moment, when it’s not just the colour of your wardrobe that counts!

What about your make-up?

It’s always about the right shade…of your lipstick, eyeliner and even hair colour:)

When talking about make-up there is no silly question that you could ask but sometimes we can make wrong choices…of colour, how to mix and match and even what product to use!

It’s all about research…a bit of experimenting and taking the right advice.

2015-06-08 09.36.15-1         2015-06-08 09.40.38-1

Basic tips:

  • It’s one or the other – bring out your eyes or your lips
  • Avoid the clown effect – colours which are too strong do not suit everyone
  • Your first priority is your skin – use the right products for you ( not what everyone else is using)
  • Match it top to toe – know your colour chart
  • Less is always more – that is a reality, not just a saying:)
  • Try it before you buy it
  • Know the difference between night and day – believe me, they are not the same:)))

2015-06-08 09.49.07-1  2015-06-08 09.41.46-1

Sharing good practice:

  • The best eyeliner I have ever had…Bourjois Eyeliner Stylo
  • A new discovery…Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara🙂
  • Your eye colour and your eyeshadow are best friends!
  •  Moisturise…a healthy skin is always the best look
  • Be colour coordinated – your wardrobe should match your make up
  • A natural look doesn’t mean no make-up

The eyeliner, the mascara, the lipstick, the nail polish…use them to enhance your best features!

Always look like you were born with it….because you were:)

Love who you are,

Julia
