It seems most of my mornings have the same ritual…
Alarm shock…dream of a dream…coffee hit…lipstick flavour…road trip 🙂
But there is one of these so-called rituals that deserves a little more attention and love … the beautiful and mystical rouge.
I’ve always believed that magic happens when a woman puts on lipstick…from a young age we play with make-up, loving the feel of mum’s powder on our cheeks, the taste of her red lipstick and the scent of her favourite perfume.
I haven’t been a huge fan of any lipstick for a long time…always thought of myself as more of a lip gloss girl…just liked the light and natural feel of a neutral colour.
But I must admit…there is no similar sentiment to the one you have when you break out of the bubble of neutral colours!
For the next few weeks I will try to share with you my recent adventures in the wonderful world of extreme shades and how my confidence completely changed when it comes to lipstick 🙂
First post of the Sweet Lips Chronicles is all about the coffee…
…and if you are a tea lover …keep reading as these colours can still be your best fit!
When it comes to coffee, I am all about the taste and the creamy milk…there is nothing more comforting than the warm hug of a freshly made morning drink.
I don’t know about you but this is all I need to keep me going…
I believe that is no coincidence the make-up industry chose to name their lipstick colours after tasty drinks, delicious desserts and attractive lines that make us feel more confident and every now and then invincible.
When it comes to rouge, the colours of coffee work with pretty much everything.
Forget about the notion that dark brown or extreme pink don’t work for you because the colour of your eyes, the shape of your lips or some other excuse that you’ve thought of or you’ve read in a magazine.
When I choose the colour of my lipstick, I think about a few things:
- Hair style – it might sound silly but it does make a difference; for example the stronger and bolder colours look better when your hair is up in a bun or ponytail
- Makeup – especially your eyes; always try to match the colour of your lips with the shades of your eyeshadow…the golden rule is to choose which one you want to take out for a walk…your killer look or your delicious lips…never both; a bold lipstick will shine with a neutral eye makeup
- Clothing – a strong red lips will look amazing with a red top or for a more subtle look with a beautiful red heels
I have definitely tried a few coffee shades, but in the end I couldn’t choose between two brands…
I would love to hear what is your most loved coffee shade lipstick…share the best one you’ve ever used 🙂
