‘The Pencil Is Red’

Welcome back to your Fashion Guide…always a little bit closer to your own catwalk 🙂

This week I am bringing you the beautiful…stylish and eternally alluring pencil skirt!

Pencil skirt

I’ve always loved a high rise, knee length pencil skirt…

It is one of the most practical choices I’ve ever made!

Fresh and stylish options for a pencil skirt:

  • High rise fits better every body shape and it will bring out your beautiful curves
  • Always knee length
  • Wear it with a dress shirt if you want a formal or semi-formal look
  • A blouse will be perfect for a casual or evening outfit
  • Print is one of the stars this year, so floral or multiple colour can be a great choice
  • For a late summer gaze, wear it with simple/plain colour top (sleeveless or not)

Pencil black and white Red pencil

As much as I love black I always come back to my first love…beautiful red!

The pencil skirt is an all year round piece in your wardrobe…a balanced colour combination will build you an outfit for every occasion.

If you choose the classic road…put it together with neutral colours, autumn shades.

For the best style and look, pair it up with heels…and as we are at the beginning of the cold season…a perfect heeled ankle boot will create the perfect look!

Would love to know your pencil style?!

Hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s shopping trip!

‘Camera Lucida’ – Divergent

Welcome to week #8 of Camera Lucida Photo Challenge

Divergent
Divergent

This week’s theme: Divergent

The definition of divergent is things that move in different directions or that are far apart from each other.

Opposites, dissimilar, different, contradictory, reverse.

Every time I look at this picture there is one thing that comes to mind…opposites attract!
Do you agree?
This week take a look around you…do you see anything divergent? You might stop at a cross road thinking about two different directions, is there an object in your view that inspires contradictory…take a snapshot of the unusual, the yin and yang…the black and white…the sun and the moon…the cross line between seasons…
Tell us a story…a tale of opposites that somehow creates one unique moment!

What will be your opposite?

‘Red Echo Date’ #10

Looking for Inspiration?

Join us and share your thoughts behind this week’s quote 🙂

Quote 10

Life is sometimes much more simple than we think…

I admit that there are moments when I forget how to enjoy an effortless gesture…a stranger’s smile…a friend’s hug!

Last week we talked about the anxiety of life…and as much as we don’t want to think about it…it’s there, in our every day routine, the weekend rush and the morning call.

Every now and then you meet new people who remind you that happiness does exist and it doesn’t cost a thing…all we have to do is let it happen…let it happen to us, be open and accept the simple but wonderful moments that life is giving us.

…and yes, life is not always fluffy like cotton candy and occasionally it feels like a room with four walls closing slowly around you and even if at some point you do find that window towards the sunrise or the door to a new beginning…we still hang on to the past, to the sorrow and pain that prevents us from appreciating and celebrating what’s good and beautiful in our life.

If today was a good day…why aren’t you smiling?

If you’ve reached your destination…why don’t you stop running?

If your dream came true…why are you not celebrating?

If faith is giving you a hand…why don’t you accept it?

Because the only obstacle between you and happiness is your own willingness to accept it!

Look around…and enjoy the incredible, because it’s happening to you!

When was the last time you’ve enjoyed the moment?

‘The Captivating Taste of Fennel’

Welcome back to my Kitchen Corner 🙂

This week…we are continuing our healthy cruise with a new recipe that I’ve put together just for you!

Roasted Fennel with red wine sauce chicken
Roasted Fennel and Chicken breast with red wine sauce

Ingredients: 1 chicken breast/person, 1 fennel/person, olive oil, salt, black pepper, parsley, rosemary, thyme, dried chilli flakes.

For the sauce: 1 onion, 1 carrot, rosemary, thyme, 100 ml chicken stock (I’ve used chicken stock cube), 100 ml red wine, pinch of salt and pepper.

Italian salad: Fresh tomato, cucumber, radish, salt, lemon juice and olive oil.

Fennel

Method: Heat up olive oil in a non-stick pan and add rosemary and thyme. Season the chicken breast with salt and black pepper, turn the heat to medium and cook the chicken 2 minutes on each side until it turns a bit golden.

Turn the heat down to low, cover the pan and cook for about 10 minutes. Once done, turn the heat off and leave the chicken to rest for another 10 minutes with the lid on.

Chicken breast and rosemary

Wash and cut the fennel in half, season with salt, black pepper and chilli flakes.

Heat the pan over medium heat, add the olive oil and roast the fennel, five minutes on each side.

fennel

Prepare the sauce: Heat the olive oil and sauté the chopped onion and carrot for about 5 minutes, add thyme and rosemary and mix with a wooden spoon. Pour over the chicken stock and red wine, pinch of salt and black pepper, cover the pan with a lid and leave it to simmer until it’s reduced and thickened like a sauce (about 10-15 minutes).

Turn the heat off and strain the sauce through a sieve and it’s ready to serve 🙂

Salad

Italian salad: Slice the tomato, radish and cucumber, season with salt and lemon juice. Mix everything and dress it with olive oil. Place the salad in the fridge and serve cold.

Fennel and chicken

Cut the cooked chicken breast in medium pieces, serve next to the roast fennel and red wine sauce.

Decorate with parsley or coriander.

Serve with the beautiful fresh salad…absolutely amazing!

This is the first time I’ve cooked fennel and I am in love with it…

I would love to hear from you if you cooked with fennel before and maybe share your own recipe 🙂

Fennel

Bon appetit!

Julia

‘Camera Lucida’ – Out of Place

Welcome to week #7 of Camera Lucida Photo Challenge

Out of Place
Out of Place

This week’s theme: Out of Place

I took this picture recently on a day out…lovely day, a few sunny moments, overall a great day for my photo collection, that is growing with the speed of light 🙂

I only looked at it later on and thought that, as much as the colours are amazing…it’s slightly out of place!

This week you have the opportunity to be as spontaneous as you like…find that object which doesn’t belong, it can even be a boat on a hill :)…can it be an ingredient you shouldn’t have put in your cake mixture, maybe it’s a two coloured leaf found deep in the forest…maybe it’s snow in the middle of August or a snapshot of Sun and the Moon, who according to legends, should never meet…

Let your creativity run free and capture the unusual that might be hiding within the ordinary 🙂

What will be your out of place?

How to join us?

‘Savvy and Fashionable’

Hello Fashion Lovers!

This week my catwalk is all about intelligent print…

You might ask…really? What is that all about?

Here is the short tale of the red glasses Giraffe named Savvy 🙂

I was looking to buy some very simple t-shirts for the gym…and as always I found something completely opposite, well truth to be told, I did buy a couple of t-shirts but they will never see the four walls of a gym! LOL

The Geek Chic Look
The Geek Chic Look

I am not a huge fan of prints but even I couldn’t turn away from that cute face looking back at me from the window display.

I always said it and I always will…fashion should make you feel good

Comfort is not a myth within the fashion society!

Yes…looking good sometimes means going through some form of pain but I have news for you…the right statement print and a pair of denim, never looked better!

Giraffe t-shirt

Accessorize, accessorize and accessorize…do it for look, fashion or necessity…just do it!

Your comfort look can easily turn into a more elegant one with just one swap…skirt for the trousers 🙂

Elegant and savvy look
Elegant and savvy look

If you are someone who lived in jeans…slept in jeans…step out on the green grass and don’t be afraid to try out a skirt!

This year, it’s all about lace, high waist, knee-length and flared…don’t tell me, there is nothing there you could try 🙂

Keep it simple and always be yourself!

All year round from Spring to Summer…and now from Autumn to Winter, there is one accessory you should have in your wardrobe…the famous hat!

Find the one that suits you…be creative and try a colour that you’ve just glanced at from the corner of your eye but never attempted to put it on…believe me, you might surprise yourself with an unplanned purchase 🙂

Red jacket

Hope you’ve enjoyed my shopping trip for this week!

Tell us what’s new in your wardrobe?

Julia
