Writing 101 – Day Twenty

It’s the final day of Writing 101!

I’ve enjoyed every minute of it, learned a lot, read even more:) and connected with some amazing people!

Today’s assignment: ‘The things we treasure’ – It’s the final day of the challenge already?! Let’s make sure we end it with a bang — or, in our case, with some furious collective tapping on our keyboards. For this final assignment, lead us through the history of an object that bears a special meaning to you.

‘Hidden treasures under our feet’

Thinking about things I treasure…

Throughout our life we collect things, moments…with time they become memories, we hold on to them and turn them into treasures.

I can’t count all the objects I’ve kept and locked in the memory box…each and every piece has a sentimental value and it’s a proof of wonderful moments that I was lucky enough to be part of.

…but if I look closer, it’s not the things I treasure… it’s the memories that come with them! So, today…the last assignment for this writing challenge I will open my memory box and share with you my most-prized possession:)

“…the sun never felt so warm…it was 7 o’clock in the morning and all I could think of was him. I know we always said that today will be like any other day…we didn’t need to prove anything…we knew each others souls, we knew we belonged, but even so, today was the day we will pledge our love in front of God, our family, our amazing friends and somehow everything will become more real.

I don’t know why I’ve said that…it was real before, but it was missing something…our hearts were longing for something…the blessing.

Now, thinking back, everything it’s a blur…I have all these pictures to remind me of that day and I treasure them dearly but my soul values the vows we took…those unforgettable moments when everyone and everything is in perfect line with the Universe and the land and the sky celebrates the union of two spirits.

My heart was racing, I’ve spent the morning crying and I wondered why people say that this is the most amazing day of your life…surely I am not the only bride who feels this way on her big day?! I wasn’t crying because something was wrong…I felt flooded with all these emotions and they all came at once…happiness, love, hope, peace, relief, fear.

…walking down the ail…it’s like being in a boat, in the middle of the sea, desperately looking for land…

…but then, I saw him and my heart was filled with love, endless love…he was my light house, guiding me towards the rest of our life…”

Final note from the author:)

I was, I am and always will be in love with love…a hopeless romantic, you may say:)

The truth is that I value feelings more than anything, emotional experiences through which the world uncovers its beauty and leads us towards the unknown…the amazingly beautiful unknown, which awaits to be discovered.

The secret to uncover our destiny it’s simple…don’t walk the path alone, because together we are stronger, better and happier!

  1. I had not seen that about BUGS. These last days have been a whirlwind. I forgot to mention, because my mind has this habit of jumping from lilypad to lilypad before I’d finished with one thought. But as I read your story, for this last day post of Writing 101, yesterday was my 18th wedding anniversary. It was such a beautiful day. We always begin our day with watching the tape (now DVD) of our ceremony. Normally it is the first thing we do, after opening our cards to each other. But yesterday, we decided to make our annual pilgrimage over to the place where we were married, which happily is in the town where we moved to when we came back up here to help take care of my parents. The place still held it’s old world charm, and as we walked the grounds, we remembered many of the moments right there while we were standing here and there as each moment happened 18 years ago. When we returned home, we put the DVD on and sat and watched as the actual ceremony unfolded, anew, feeling the visit connecting us on a greater level. This particular day, we realized with the bittersweetness that changes bring into our lives, that many of those who were present then, have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. But seeing them again, as they were that day is a treasure all itself.
Later, as is our anniversary custom, we watched our anniversary movie: You’ve Got Mail. Yes, we met online. How romantic that has made this technology. 🙂

Anyway, I will definitely look into BUGS. 🙂

I have to say, your story is so romantic… and I love ‘You’ve got mail’!

      1. Thank you, Julia, for the lovely wishes. We have always celebrated with the movies, even when we couldn’t be here (before we returned to this area). It’s something we’ll always have. 🙂

  2. I know exactly what you’re saying! With all the other parts of myself running rampant around the myriad sense of life’s ups and downs, the core of my being is about love; being in love, loving, and never better put than when you said, “I was, I am and always will be in love with love…a hopeless romantic.” It’s isn’t always the part of me I share. It’s sacred, and there are many who sully its purity with their skepticism. But I know there are many of us out there. It’s nice to have met a kindred on that front!

It’s been a pleasure getting to know you through your stories these weeks. In many ways, I’ve come to know myself better through your words.
