‘Almost there…’

Dark journey

Followed by the white cloud,

Leave the soil marked…

Walk light as a feather,

Uphill towards the dark…

Look down into the cradle,

…and rest your heavy heart.

This was possibly one of my best experiences in creating a story through random pictures! I really do hope you will enjoy it as much as I did:)

I would like to also link this post to Photo Rehab Clinic 101, where you can check out some great photographers with an amazing sense of art and beauty:) Here are some more information about The Clinic:

This blog hosted ‘The Photo101 Rehab Clinic’ from 04 to 31 December 2014 and featured over 170 photos made by Photobloggers Andy Townend, Mara Eastern, Cardinal Guzman, DesleyJane, Justine, Amy, Teresa, Albert, Terri, Giving Thought, Ellen, Nalinki, Mariangeles, DwayCrafts, Lucy, Terri, Bampa’s Views, PeaceCrafting, Dreaming of Leaving and Project Easier.

As former patients informed me that the withdrawal symptoms remained active, and new patients recognized the same symptoms, The Clinic – Photo Rehab  reopened its doors.

You can do a self-examination. If you detect any of the following symptoms, as carefully described by Albert from the blog Passionately Curious, come and join us: “Withdrawal symptoms may include the incessant need to carry your camera everywhere with you, the need to wake up in the wee hours to take photos during the golden hour, and checking up on others you met during the course to see what their newfound knowledge has brought fruit to.”

How to join:

Time: The Clinic is open 24 x 7 until the healing process ends.

Camera: You can use any camera, from DSLR, mirrorless, compact, to smartphones.

Theme: Bring your creativity and photograph a theme of your liking in B&W or Color. With or without edition. We like learning techniques as well, if you want to share it with everyone.

Who can join: Anyone can join; and not only former Photo 101 bloggers. All you need is passion. Passion to speak up through images – or words, if you may want to add your thoughts to it as well – showing what you see and how much that is important to you.

Thanks for joining and enjoy it.

‘Eating out while staying in’

Welcome back to Julia’s Kitchen Corner:)

I totally love saying this…Julia’s Kitchen Corner:)))

This week is all about what is fresh…tasty…healthy…and easy to make!

I love cooking but I don’t always have enough time to spend in the kitchen, so I like to try recipes that are quick, fresh and fill your body with love! Initially, when I’ve started blogging the cooking/baking segment was meant to be an opportunity for me to share some tasty recipes that I’ve discovered/put together along the way…but I know now it’s turning out to be so much more:)

So…just to let you know for the future, I will continue to share my collection of best recipes but I will add here and there some good practice tips, some secret ingredients you can always have in the cupboard…easy ways you can turn your kitchen into one of the most loved places you would always want to be!

…I am also open to suggestions…if there is anything you would want to see or learn in this segment, feel free to ask…I believe sharing what we love, what we learn and what we can make will enable us to create some beautiful dishes.

Turkey steak with roasted vegetables and mustard sauce

Ingredients: Turkey steak( 1/person), salt, pepper, chilli powder, white potatoes, carrots, radish, plum tomatoes, fresh lettuce, 3 tsp dijon mustard, 200 ml creme fraiche, few black peppercorns and 2 tsp of lemon juice.

Method: Fill a pot half way with water, add a bit of salt, place over medium heat and bring to boil. Cut the potatoes in shape of wedges ( I’ve used around 2 medium potatoes /person), slice the carrots and add everything to the boiling water. You can use any other vegetables you like, from parsnip to brussels sprouts.

Pre-heat the oven while the vegetables are boiling.

IMG-20150523-WA0005-1

I usually leave them to boil for exactly 10 minutes, drain the water, then place them into the oven with a bit of salt and olive oil on top.

Place a non-stick pan over low heat, get your turkey steaks ready with a bit of salt, pepper and chilli powder, when the pan is hot add the steaks, frying them 5 minutes on each side.

Make sure you keep an eye on the vegetables, they are ready when the potato wedges turn crispy golden.

You are now ready to make the mustard sauce:)

IMG-20150523-WA0003-1

For the sauce, add the creme fraiche, dijon mustard, black peppercorns and the lemon juice into a small pan over medium heat. Simmer for about 3-4 minutes until it turns smooth and saucy. Remove from heat and place aside.

This sauce will be enough for 4-5 servings.

To make the salad that accompanies the dish, I’ve used some fresh plum tomatoes, radish and curly lettuce, a bit of salt and a few drops of lemon juice.

Serve as seen above making sure you add the warm sauce at the end.

I’ve loved this dish so much that I’ve got carried away with the pictures, especially because it was a beautiful day and we had lunch in the garden…but it looks tasty from every angle:)))

Bon appetit!

With Love,

Julia

‘Flower Power’

Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.” Coco Chanel

If you had any doubts until now…here it goes…I LOVE FASHION:)

I like to think that most of us love to look and feel good…but I also know that sometimes we like to say that we don’t care about fashion or trend…what’s in or what’s last year’s piece!

…and even if we don’t follow the catwalk, big brands or well-known fashion designers, that does not mean that our wardrobe it’s not a slight echo of this year’s spring/summer collection.

Fashion is beauty…but it is also personality…an imitation of our DNA, if you want….

No matter how much we would like to deny…today, tomorrow…near or far future…we are going to realise that we are not so far from being fashionable. You might say that there is nothing in your wardrobe that is trendy…I would say…’look again’!

Fashion is not always trying to keep up with new collections, styles, cuts and fabrics…fashion is what you love wearing, because what you love today…many more will adore tomorrow!

I don’t love everything that each season’s trend brings…but everything I wear becomes a new style…a new line…because I decide what makes me feel good, confident and fabulous:)))

For that reason only, this week I bring to you…the flower power!

IMG-20150526-WA0000_Fotor-1

If you didn’t notice yet…this spring is full of flowers…and I don’t just mean, in the garden:)

Left and right, everywhere you look, from vests to dresses and jackets to trousers…everything is covered in flowers!

IMG-20150526-WA0004_Fotor-1

I’ve never been a big fan of flower print…and I do not believe I will ever become one:)

What I do like is…simplicity…a subtle touch of what might have been a flower impression!

I like to keep it simple but always with a touch of a personal style.

IMG-20150526-WA0007_Fotor-1

If you page through a fashion magazine…catch a catwalk show while flipping through the TV Channels or just fancy knowing what else is out there…don’t think too much about it, try out new things, adapt them to your own style and you will see that in a blink of an eye you will enjoy what you’re wearing more…and appreciate old pieces that you’ve thought you’ll never wear again!

Fashion is what you make it to be…what you see around you is just a gentle push to take your imagination on a beautiful journey of discovery. Don’t forget…you are the artist creating your next masterpiece…so, make it unique because there is only one of YOU!

The choice is always yours…

‘The simple things in life’

I love to take something ordinary and make it really special.” Ina Garten

FullSizeRender-3

Do you have a memory of the most tasty dish you’ve ever had?

I thought I did…until today:)

We all look for that unforgettable taste in complicated recipes…fancy restaurants…unknown ingredients.

More complex it looks, more we think it will be better than anything we ever had before…

Why is that?

We tend to treat most of the things in our life in the same manner…as it gets more tangled, as the puzzle has more pieces, we have the impression it might worth more.

So many times we look away from the most simple ingredients just because we’ve used them so many times…they are familiar so they lack the excitement… or do they?

Today I’ve put together the most basic ingredients for a salad…I won’t go into detail about the ingredients (unless you want me to) because that is not the point of this post…the result was – the most tasty turkey avocado salad I have ever had:)

…take a look today at the most simple things around you and soon you’ll realise they worth more than you’ve thought!

Complicated is born because we think the elementary is not enough…easy becomes puzzling through our attempt in finding something special, when the exceptional is actually hiding between the ordinary.
