‘Original sin – Pecado Original’

To keep in with this week’s spanish theme, I’ve chosen one of my all time favourite movies, not just because the main female character is one of my most loved actresses but because this love story brings to life those feelings which most of us are uncomfortable to admit we have … addiction to the person we love.

Original sin… Pecado original

Screen Shot 2015-03-18 at 20.56.52

Director: Michael Cristofer

Writers: Cornell Woolrich (novel), Michael Cristofer

Lead actors: Angelina Jolie, Antonio Banderas

2001 Drama, Romance

If you ever been truly in love…and I mean, when you feel you cannot breath without the other person, when you desperately try to imagine how your life would be without them, when you feel their joy and pain with them… when you feel truly addicted to that person, than this movie will make sense.

I watched it so many times and each time it brings to life the same pain and happiness, anger and forgiveness, love and addictive desire.

Luis and Julia are bound by marriage but their relationship quickly becomes driven by lust and desire, uncontrollable passion.

Everything starts with a lie… and I think this is one of the painful realities that this story brings to us… love, sometimes has to outlive tremendous pain and forgiveness to be able to survive and thrive to be eternal.

Julia seems more enigmatic as Luis gets closer, but then again, that is human nature, more people try to get to know us, more we build that wall that we think it protects from all the pain and sorrow.

The truth is… more we hide, more we lose time and the opportunity to find what we are meant to have and enjoy.

The story goes from a need to share to passion and love, ending in wild obsession… but who are we to judge what is real love?

Embark with me and let your senses free… open your mind and let your eyes be blind:)

Enjoy watching this movie!
