‘Beautiful creatures’

“There are moments in our life when we are drawn either to light or to darkness… what does make us choose our path?”

I am going to be honest with you and say that before watching this movie, I didn’t really know what to think about it, like everyone I did watch the trailer, which I might say it does intrigue…

This story has so many layers that it can be your cup of tea if you are a hopeless romantic, have a wild imagination, you feel drawn to the world of fantasy and all possibilities or just want to watch something different.

Director: Richard LaGravenese

Writers: Richard LaGravenese, Kami Garcia ( novel ), Margaret Stohl

Lead actors: Alice Englert, Alden Ehrenreich, Emma Thompson

2013 Drama, Fantasy, Romance

From the title, you can realise the core of this movie is a supernatural love story, between Ethan, a boy who only wants to escape his small town and Lena, the new girl who has a whole mysterious family history wanting to decide her future.

‘What makes us want to leave, it keeps us closer at the same time’

Lena counts the days to her 16th birthday, when her magical powers will be claimed for good or for evil…Ethan is her connection to light and the string that keeps her wide awake to the reality. She also becomes Ethan’s main focus…his reason to stay.

While learning the family’s secrets, they discover themselves and the strong connection they have.

I think the moment that made me enjoy this movie even more was the end of the story…

So take a risk today, a small one and add a bit of supernatural to your day:)

  1. I’ve read so many reviews of this movie and I don’t really agree with them…yes it’s not an Oscar winning movie but it has something that draws you in, its different and I like different:)

  2. I agree with that, I was in the same state of mind when I saw it, didn’t really know what to expect from the trailer but intrigued. And I loved it, I’m sure the books are even better though, they always are, but they did a pretty good job with the movie. It wasn’t too boring nor too cheesy, and that is quite rare these days! 🙂
